Beef
All COVAP's meat products come from animals that are born, bred and slaughtered under the control and supervision of the Cooperative on its partner farms. The main cattle breeds used are Retinta, Charolais and Limousin, which all provide excellent meat and are exceptionally well-adapted to life on the pastureland.

The animals are tagged and recorded at birth, and over the course of their development each one is individually monitored, both by the farmer and by the Cooperative's Technical Team, to ensure that they are cared for, fed and handled as appropriate.

Before the calves are weaned, when they are between three and seven months old, they feed on their mothers' milk and graze on the pastureland. They are then sent to the Cattle Classification Centre, where they eat feeds and mixed feeds made in COVAP's own facilities. The cattle stay in this Centre until they are between ten and twelve months old. When they reach the required weight and size, they are taken to the Slaughterhouse. Here, the meat is quartered and the products prepared for sale to our end customers. Our beef products are certified by CERTICAR and have been awarded the Calidad Certificada (''certified quality'') seal by the Autonomous Government of Andalusia.
