Francisco Gil
Dairy cow farmer HIS STORYAll my life, I’ve had a connection to livestock farming. My father had cows at home, and once he and my mother got married, they bought some calves and started up a farm like the ones there used to be. At the age of eight, I was already using my first milker and milking my first liters. I helped my father with the calves as much as I could at my age and combined this with my studies. At 29, my brother and I took over the farm when my father retired early. In 30 years, we’ve gone from having 30 cows to having 300. I was born and raised in a farming family on both sides, my mother’s and my father’s. Practically all discussions and conversations were about COVAP, cows and milk.
HIS WORDSI can think of a lot of words to summarize my opinion of COVAP, but the one I’ll choose is security.
For me, COVAP is a clear example of success. Thanks to the work done by a lot of people, it has managed to become a leading cooperative in the agrifood sector in Spain, and I think it has played a key role in developing this region.

Dairy cow farmers HIS STORY‘El Algarrobillo’ was created in 1970. Our story started when our grandfather, Felipe, rented the property our family now owns. Today, we feel satisfied and proud, as we have modern facilities, renovated in 2018, where we milk around 180 cows. More than 50 years of work, effort and care have gone into our farm, and throughout this time COVAP has always been by our side.
HIS WORDSSustainable management.
Our intention is to be very efficient, and to do that, you need to invest and work with all the available information. With more information, it is easier to get things right and make the business as profitable as possible. We do that on our farm, and COVAP does that in its management.
