Our farms
Get to know the day-to-day routine of our farmers at work on their cattle, Ibérico pig, sheep and goat farms. Because it's thanks to their hard work, dedication and love for what they do that COVAP today can support animal welfare and rigorous process control and supply products with guaranteed quality.
A day on the farm of ...
A day on an Ibérico pig farm
The countryside of La Dehesa, combined with the work of the best professionals, is the key to ensuring that COVAP Ibérico products achieve the very best levels of quality. It's our most closely guarded secret!
The incredible genes of our purebred animals, combined with the unique feed we provide thanks to the Valley's oak trees, as well as our members many years of experience, yield a spectacular product which is one of a kind.
Dawn on the Pasturelands
The sun appears on the horizon and the birds start to sing. Light creeps in slowly through the window. An exciting new day is about to begin on the Pasturelands. It's a glorious morning, and the first Ibérico pigs go outside to enjoy the landscape, fresh air and beauty offered by the Valley.
The farmer arrives
What early risers! The animals wake up early each day to make the most of the splendid mornings. Now and again, we find an animal that has stayed at home and we go to check that it's alright.
Checking the beds
The farmer goes to visit the sows and their piglets. The new little piglets are now part of the farm! They'll receive all sorts of pampering and attention to help them grow up healthy and happy. The farmer also checks that the sows have been able to rest and recover from delivering their litter. The most important thing is for our pigs to feel comfortable in our Valleys!
Breakfast
Our pigs feed on the delicious pastures of our countryside. They are extremely well adapted to the special ecosystem of the area... There really is nothing better! To relax in the Valley's surroundings is paradise for our Ibérico pigs living in freedom.
The acorns fall
One of the most fascinating moments of the day comes with the "vareador" (the "tree shaker"!). It's amazing to see our experts at work! This specialist is in charge of carefully shaking the oaks so that the pigs are able to find food more easily. Acorns, given their high carbohydrate content, are the perfect food to give our animals all the energy they require.
Time for a walk!
Our animals are full of curiosity! This means they spend the morning strolling around and exercising, helping to improve their feeding patterns and resulting in the best COVAP Ibérico pork products. Our Pasturelands, the "Dehesa", know no limits and are the ideal place to breed our animals.
Siesta time
Around noon, our animals digest and take a long nap that will allow them to stay refreshed for the remainder of the day. At this time, the farmer checks that they're all fine and then leaves for lunch in order to continue with his work in the afternoon.
After the siesta
Following a nap, it's time to rouse those sleepy heads to make the most of the few hours of light we enjoy in the afternoons of the "Montanera", the final stage of the pigs' development. This contact with nature allows the Ibérico pig to develops its full genetic potential.
To bed!
Our pigs may be rustic animals, but they are still able to enjoy little luxuries! They appreciate a nice warm bed, especially on rainy nights when the cold creeps in through the window. And like that, tucked in and cozy... we bid them goodnight. See you tomorrow!
Evening falls

We don't want our farm to want for anything! For this reason, each day we go to COVAP's feed plant and Agri-store to buy all the food and other products that our sheep are going to need over the coming days.
Last check
A little before the end of the day, the farmer ensures his animals will have the perfect night. The sheep need food and water that lasts until the next day, so they can rest in the best conditions possible. In this way, every detail is taken care of and our workers can go home without a worry.

Good morning!
The sun is still well below the horizon in the Valley. The fields are still, and while everyone is asleep, our farmers get ready to start their day's work. Little by little, the sky changes color from pink to orange as the first rays of sun appear in the silent dawn.
Wake-up time on the farm
They may all seem the same, but every day is unique on our farm! Who knows what surprise awaits us each morning? The farmer arrives at the farm to greet the sheep and... there are new lambs waiting for him! The day can be full of unforgettable moments that no-one wants to miss.

Farmers breakfast time
Our farmer also needs to recharge his batteries! He heads home and has a delicious breakfast, taking a moment to enjoy the peace and calm of the first coffee of the morning. Something warm, and with the best milk, that's always the best option when you've got a long day of tasks ahead of you.
Back to the farm
On his return, the farmer proceeds to supply food to the pregnant sheep - they required special attention! Our newly-born lambs get ready to receive their first food, a very exciting moment. Finally, the farmer heads off into the fields to see to the animals that have got lost while grazing.
