The President of Confevap and Mayor of Pozoblanco, Emiliano Pozuelo, today closed the XXV edition of the Agricultural Fair of Los Pedroches and XV edition of “Agroalimentaria”, which closed with a turnover of 1.8 million Euros, according to an initial estimate by the organization. The President of Confevap stressed that thousands of people have visited the fair over the past few days, not only to buy the wide range of products available there but also to gain a deeper knowledge of the sector first-hand and attend specialized sessions, which showcase important new developments in the farming world.

Pozuelo highlighted the return of dairy cows to the fair and the high level of the livestock and stressed that both in the livestock competitions, one of the economic motors of the region of Los Pedroches and in the technical sessions, which have been a big success, there has been evidence that this region will see a generational change in terms of cattle herding, which will translate into the population staying in the region.”

The President of Confevap commented that the expertise and level of the farmers of this land is reflected in the memory of Lucas Cantero, in the award to Miguel Fernández and in the capacity of young companies like Rusama Ganadería. Pozuelo also thanked COVAP for its commitment to the fair, which this year celebrated its first quarter century "in excellent health". “Evidently,” the mayor declared, “everyone has their own personal experience at the fair, but in general, we have perceived satisfaction among the people who have attended the event. This and the fact that there have been no incidents or problems are two very positive things.”

The Friesian cattle competition has also returned this year to the Agri-livestock Fair with 62 animals and 11 farms, with an emphasis on the high level of the participants and with many different winners between various categories and sections. Confevap expressed it satisfaction with the excellent contest after all the work that had been done and said it was hopeful that this would continue in following editions. The livestock company “Ganadería Vistahermosa”, from Dos Torres, managed by COVAP farmers, has won the Champion Cow Award at the Friesian Cattle BCompetition and has won several more first prizes at the XXV Agri-livestock and XV Agri-food Fairs of Los Pedroches, such as the Junior Champion Cow Award, the Grand Champion Heifer, Champion Calf or Senior Cow.

The events were organized by Confevap, with sponsorship from the Regional Government of Andalusia, the Provincial Council of Cordoba, the City Council of Pozoblanco and the savings bank “Caja Rural del Sur.” The Andalusian Friesian Association and the AFRIDO Association, from Dos Torres, also participated as partners and reference organizations in the industry.
